As we approach International Women's Day on March 8, 2026, the global community is rallying under the theme "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls." Here in Bel Air, at Favor Mental Health, we recognize that true justice and action begin with a fundamental right that is often overlooked: the right to mental well-being.
This year’s campaign slogan, "Give To Gain," reminds us that when we invest in the mental health of women, the entire community gains. Generosity—whether in the form of time, advocacy, or emotional support—is the engine that will finally close the gender gap in healthcare and professional equity.

The "Give To Gain" Framework: 7 Ways to Support Women’s Mental Health
In the spirit of IWD 2026, we’ve identified seven actionable ways you can "give" to gain a more resilient, equitable community:
Give Mentorship: Share your professional journey with a younger woman. Reducing the "Imposter Paradox" starts with seeing that successful leaders also navigated self-doubt.
Give Permission to Rest: Challenge the "Superwoman" narrative. Encourage the women in your life to "micro-dose" rest without the weight of guilt.
Give the Gift of Destigmatization: Speak openly about your own therapy or mental health journey. Normalizing the struggle is an act of justice for those still suffering in silence.
Give Your Voice to Advocacy: Support local Harford County initiatives that protect women’s rights and access to specialized healthcare.
Give Validation: When a woman speaks about her stress or exhaustion, listen without immediately trying to "fix" it. Validating her experience is the first step in lowering her cortisol.
Give Grace to New Mothers: Postpartum care isn't just a medical necessity; it's a community responsibility. Offer tangible support to help mothers reclaim their cognitive identity.
Give a Referral: If you know a woman struggling with "High-Functioning Anxiety," be the bridge that connects her to professional care.
Local Action: Bel Air Specific Support
At Favor Mental Health, we aren't just celebrating for a day; we are taking action. We have tailored our March services to meet the specific needs of women in our community:
Imposter Syndrome Circles: Small, curated group sessions held at our Gateway Drive office designed to help professional women dismantle the "fraud" narrative and own their success.
Postpartum "Fourth Trimester" Care: Specialized evaluations that look at the intersection of hormonal shifts and mental health for new mothers in the Bel Air area.
The "Lighthouse" Workshop: A session for mothers to practice emotional regulation and stable parenting techniques in an increasingly digital world.
Justice Through Action
International Women's Day is a reminder that "Rights" are only as strong as the "Action" taken to protect them. Mental health justice means every woman in Bel Air has the right to a brain that feels calm, a body that feels safe, and a career that feels sustainable.
When you Give To Gain, you aren't just helping one person; you are shifting the "Neuro-Landscape" of our entire town.
Celebrate IWD 2026 by taking action for your own well-being or the well-being of a woman you lead.
At Favor Mental Health, we provide comprehensive mental health evaluations, individualized treatment plans, psychotherapy, and medication management.
